Sleep Number i8 Bed Review

by Cindy
(Hazlet, NJ)

I purchased the Select Comfort Sleep Number i8 bed (King size) in January. I was having a lot of back pain with my old mattress and was looking for a better bed.

I had heard about the Sleep Number bed and thought it would be a good purchase. They were pretty expensive and figured they must be well made. I am very unsatisfied with this bed.

I have more back pain now than with my old mattress. I paid 3500.00 for this bed and it is definately not worth the money. I think it is poorely made and would not reccomend this bed to anyone.

I have to keep the bed on 100 to keep the bed even. If you have the number set lower the bed is sagging in the middle. My husband doesn't like it either.

I guess i am stuck with this horrible bed for the next few years until we can buy something better for a lot less money. I am very unhappy with this bed so buyers beware!

i8 Outstanding Bed
by: Anonymous

We have owned Sleep Number beds for the past 14 years and recently purchased an i8. It's pricey but, with the Insider's Discount (for previous owner's of Sleep Number beds), the price becomes more reasonable. The bed is excellent with many more features and layers than our previous ones. We initially used a stain proof, water resistant mattress pad and found that it inhibited the temperature balancing feature contained in the pillow top of the mattress so, we removed it and have enjoyed sleeping more comfortably. We researched several comments and reviews before purchase and while some are negative, the vast majority, especially, those of purchases in the last 2 years of the i8 are extremely positive and we would echo those. We rate it 5 stars.

Sleep Number Bed
by: Kathy Van

When we go on vacation we love to sleep in the motel rooms now. It is so much better than the sleep number bed we have at home. These beds are such a waste of money. Go camping on air mattress and it would likely be better.

i8 is either firm and hard as a rock or sagging and hard as a rock.

by Melody B.
(Queens, NY.)

About six months ago my husband and I decided to get a new mattress. He had seen the commercials for Sleep Number beds and he just knew this was the bed for us. While I was visiting my parents in Orlando my husband purchased a King sized Innovation Series: i8 without my knowledge and without doing any research.

Needless to say when I came home and saw it I was not pleased. Being the good wife that I am I decided to shut my mouth and give it a try. I figured It couldn't be worse than our last mattress, but unfortunately I was wrong. I had not had a decent night's sleep since I got home.

When I first laid down on it my first thoughts were that this bed is hard as a rock. I tried changing the settings but it seems like I only have two choices Firm and hard as a rock and sagging and hard as a rock. I can't find an in between. Even with the firmness of the Mattress the darn thing had no back support. I would wake the next morning and had to use heating pads on my back because I was in that much pain.

The next thing I noticed is that this mattress is hot as hell. I never realized that a normal mattresses somehow equalizes your body temperature and draws the heat away from you. This one does not. We had to buy a mattress topper the next day just so we wouldn't roast to death in our sleep. The final straw for this bed was the fact that it is awful to spoon and make love on.

If you lay near the middle of the bed were the two air chambers meet your will feel like you are rolling into a hole. You can actually see that the sides of the mattress are raised and you are literally sinking in the middle . It was very unnerving. Overall I would give the Sleep number bed 0 stars.

My husband brought the bed last July and we returned it in September. We paid over $4500.00 (including tax). It did have a 100 day return policy but what they didn't specify when they told him about the policy was that they didn't return any of the shipping and set up fees so we were still out quite a bit of money.

So the moral of my sad tale is do your research before buying a new bed. If my husband had bothered to check even one review he would have seen that most others with the same bed have the same complaints and he could have saved us 100 days of pain and no sleep.

amazed but confused
by: Anonymous

I have owned virtually every type of bed. A tempurpedic, a latex nature's rest and a sterns and foster coil. In the above order best to worst. I now own an i10 Sleep Number and is is far better than any of the above. It is like getting you pants tailored every time you lose or gain weight. Adjustable at anytime. How one can say it is too firm or too soft leads me to believe they can't operate a remote control. Anyway love love this bed! 5 STARS.
