Intex Supreme Air-Flow, Queen Sized Air Mattress Review

by Jan
(Las Vegas)

At this moment, I am sleeping on an Intex Supreme Air-Flow, queen sized air mattress. I have to admit that it is by far the most comfortable "bed" that I have owned. It nicely contours to my body and I can make it as hard or as soft as I want, depending on my mood. The built in air pump makes this task extremely simple.

I also love the fact that it is a lot more simple to move and carry than a regular mattress. All you have to do is deflate it, fold it up, put it in the accompanying carrying bag, and you are set to move!

I have had it for two years now, and while I do like it, and think that it is more comfortable than previous beds that I have owned, it does have it's problems. The main problem I have encountered is that the air pump does not work as well in hot weather. It stalls and overheats at times. This is problematic because the air pressure in the bed tends to drop during the hot months, and one must inflate it more often.

Another problem is leaks. Over time, I have had little holes appear at the seems. One pin hole sized leak can cause the air mattress to deflate almost completely within a period of about 8 hours. So you might go to sleep on a firm mattress and wake up touching the ground.

The repair kit that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired. There is only a small amount of glue, and the patches leave a bumpy, raised area. I have come up with a much better solution and instead apply a bit of vinyl mender to some duct tape. It holds up very well and leaves a nice, smooth surface.

In all though, compared to other beds which I've owned, the Intex Supreme Air-Flow, queen sized air mattress is more comfortable, but also a lot more problematic. However, patching a hole is easier and less painful to deal with than broken springs. It is also a lot less expensive than a conventional bed and is a lot easier to move. I would have to rate the Intex Supreme Air-Flow a total of 3 stars.

It's not perfect, but the problems which do arise are easily fixed. I also consider it a good value for my dollar when I compare the cost to that of a conventional bed. I would probably buy it again simply because of the price and the level of comfort it affords. I only paid $59 for it when it was on sale and I think this was a good deal considering that I have seen the same air mattress go for anywhere from $79.99 to $129.99 at various retailers.
