Original Bed Twin Sized TempurPedic Mattress - 5 Stars

Two months ago I bought an Original Bed twin sized TempurPedic mattress. After lying down on several mattresses in the store, I settled on this one because it had the right amount of “firmness” without feeling like a brick, and I thought it wasn’t so soft it would give me back pain, like so many other mattresses.

The mattress size is smaller than typical mattresses (it’s typically sold for growing kids or teens), but I like it because am a smaller person. I paid almost $700 for this mattress (I consider that a rare splurge!), but I think it was worth it.

In the past I used a cheap mattress that I bought from a local furniture store (don’t remember the name) for about $200, but I regretted it very soon. The springs poked through, I woke up with back pain, it began to stink, and in a few months it began to fall apart!

With that in mind, I have to say this mattress is utterly amazing. When I wake up, my back and neck do not ache, and I’m able to fall asleep much faster. This is truly one of the most comfortable mattresses I have used!

I don’t feel any springs in it at all when I lie down. Yes, it has only been two months, but judging by the quality of this thing, I don’t think the springs are going to be poking through or falling apart anytime soon!

It has very strong stitching all around the seams for double reinforcement and the fabric feels very heavy-duty. I also noticed that this mattress doesn’t stink, which may be due to the removable terry-cloth cover.


While looking at different mattresses, I detected that many of them had a slight “chemical” smell to them, but this one doesn’t have it. So far, the mattress hasn’t started to smell like body odor, either. I don’t think it will, since most of the times high quality mattresses aren’t as absorbent to sweat and other stuff like cheap ones.

However, just to be sure, I am washing the terry-cloth cover once every two weeks. This mattress is also hypo-allergenic and dust-mite resistant, which is great if you suffer from allergies! I hate having to put a mattress cover over my bed because of the crinkling sound you get when lying down—it sounds like the plastic you put over the bed when you’re teaching a child to potty-train!

Fortunately, I bought this mattress right before allergy season really “kicked in” for me, so hopefully this will help cut down on some of my problems. It has already helped me a lot, because since sleeping on it I haven’t woken up with sinus congestion, a headache, or any other symptoms of my usual allergies.

While this mattress is slightly pricey, I still love it, and I would definitely buy it again. The mattress is firm, comfortable, hypo-allergenic, smell-free, and constructed very well. Even though it’s a splurge, I highly recommend this to anybody who is looking for a comfortable, durable mattress.
