Select Comfort Sleep Number c3 Bed

by Rachel
(Hoffman Estates, IL. USA)

The very first night I used my new Select Comfort Sleep Number mattress, I noticed that my neck and back pain had nearly disappeared. Over the next few weeks, I felt better than I had in years.

I love the fact that you can adjust the firmness or softness with the click of a button. If you are reading in bed and need a firmer surface, change the setting and you are done!

If you have not gotten a decent night sleep in years because of your spouse/partner's mattress selection, you will now! You can choose how you want to sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

Select Comfort c3

by Scott
(Chicago, IL)

I own a Select Comfort c3 bed and have owned it for about 14 months. Before talking about the bed, I can say that we had multiple issues with delivery from this company before they finally got all of the right parts and pieces delivered to our home. Once we had everything, assembly was fairly easy.

Having used a coil mattress, we were very happy with the comfort of this bed. It took about a month to dial in a number. I think it loses a bit of air over time but it really isn’t very much. One thing you should know is that when you set your number, you should remember how you were positioned on the bed. Changing positions will lead to different air pressures and the hand held remote will not be accurate.

Some people have reported mold problems with these Sleep Number mattresses. That has not been an issue for me. The bed’s semi-rigid sides have a fabric cover that is at the perfect height for our cats. Despite training, they give it a good clawing now and again. The fabric is tough and has not been damaged. A fact that our old box spring (a Sealy) could not match. It is a good bed, if a bit pricy, and I recommend it highly.

Select Comfort c3 / 5000 series

by April Sullivan-McArdle
(Murfreesboro, TN USA)

If I had this to do all over again, I would never have purchased my Sleep Number bed.

We have a king-sized mattress in the 5000 model (from what I can tell it's most comparable to the c3 series now). We purchased this bed December 2007.

We purchased the plastic foundation to place under the mattress. Because we don't have a headboard or foot-board, the mattress is constantly sliding around on the plastic foundation which, in turn, means that the cover for the plastic foundation is always moving.

The bed came with one dual remote - one remote that controls both sides of the bed. This may be acceptable with a queen-sized mattress, but king-sized beds should come with two controls - one for each nightstand - especially at the price you're paying.

The motor that blows up the mattress is noisy. There are quieter models available, but we were told that none of those quieter models would be compatible with our bed.

There is a divider between the two air mattresses. Inevitably, every night, someone ends up on top of the divider. It feels comfortable initially, but if you stay in that position and sleep on it all night long you will regret it in the morning.

Moreso - this entire bed is just an air mattress. Regardless of what softness / firmness I place the bed on, my hips sink into the mattress and I do not feel adequately supported.

If I had not had to pay the hundred-something-dollar shipping and handling charge to send this bed back, I would have during its probationary period. However, by the time we bought that bed my family wasn't in the position to shell out the extra money to get it sent back. If I had it to do all over again I would have eaten that cost and sent Select Comfort's bed back to them faster than I could say, "I hate this bed!"

I truly have buyer's remorse after purchasing this product.
