Strobel Organic Waterbed Mattress Hydro-Support 1200
by Lu Ann
My brother and I kept hitting it, kicking it, sitting on it, and eventually jumping on it. We had simply seen nothing like it. The waterbed sloshed and moved, and I think we secretly wished it would somehow overflow and spill water all over the shag carpeting. My parents wouldn’t allow “a stupid hippie bed.” When I went to college, the dorms had beds. By the time I moved out on my own, I wasn’t thinking about waterbeds. A year ago, I decided it was time for a waterbed. I bought a Strobel Organic soft system, and was pleasantly surprised that I could get a queen mattress on sale online for just under $200. The unpleasant surprise was how much more equipment was needed. With a waterbed, you need much more than a frame, mattress and boxspring. Nothing you have works. You have to buy special pillows, supports, pads, a kit to clean the water, foundation, special headboard, and don’t forget the heater. By the time I was done, my less than $200 waterbed cost over $1,800. Of course, later I discovered I could have bought everything at once for less; but I was a waterbed novice. Money aside, I was right in buying a waterbed. I’ve never slept so soundly and peacefully. I dream about being on a peaceful and quiet beach, about gliding through the sky. There’s no need to consult Freud. I get what’s happening, but it doesn’t matter. I sleep great. Five stars for my Strobel Organic waterbed system. Ahoy, matey. The water’s fine.
