My husband and I went shopping for a new mattress when we got married because both of us had twin beds previously. Neither of us had ever purchased a mattress and the ones our parents had bought us growing up were not fancy or luxurious. Neither one of us was very picky about mattresses.

We were young and newly married and did not have a lot of extra money, but it was a necessity and we wanted to make a good investment. We shopped at some discount mattress stores and were not impressed.

We went to a locally owned furniture store and there we tried some top brand mattresses and the Tempur-Pedic that we purchased.

The Tempur-Pedic cost $1400, which was 2-3 times the price of the other nice mattresses we tried.

I was a little hesitant to spend so much money and was not convinced by lying on one in the store that it was worth it. Fortunately, my husband persuaded me to purchase it because I absolutely love it now!

We have had the mattress for seven and a half years now and recommend it to everyone we know! It is still in great condition. The only problem we have had is one corner of the wooden support structure underneath the mattress broke.

We called the company and they replaced it promptly with no problems. I like that the cover is waterproof and removable so you can wash it and the actual mattress is protected.

It is the most comfortable mattress ever! When you lie down on it, it is like sinking into a cloud and then it catches you and supports you perfectly.


Your body just melts into it. It molds itself around you. It is so relaxing and soothing.

When we travel, we can't wait to get back home to our bed. Growing up I was never particular about beds.

When I went to camp and others complained about hard and lumpy mattresses, I had no problems. But, now that I have my TempurPedic mattress, I am so spoiled! I never plan to own another brand mattress. When it is time to replace ours, I want to upgrade to one of their pillow top models.

My husband was in a motorcycle accident and had back and neck injuries. That was a major reason we decided to buy this mattress because we had heard it could help with pain.

It has been wonderful! I would recommend it to anyone with chronic back or neck issues. It has no pressure points and is designed to support the neck and back and your whole body.

We also plan to buy one for our 4 year old in the next couple years when we move him out of a toddler bed to a regular-sized bed. It has a twenty year warranty and the comfort and support and great sleep it will provide him will be well worth the extra money.

I could advertise for Tempur-Pedic. I am so happy with their product and can't say enough good things about this mattress!

Cons:
For one week, the mattress had an awful odor! So bad that it gave me a headache on Day 1. I sprinkled Baking Soda all over the bed, opened the windows, and allowed the bed to air out for a few hours.

Vacuumed up the baking soda, made the bed, slept. Repeated this for five days.
Finally, the odor was gone. Caveat: my husband NEVER ONCE noticed the odor, said I was "crazy"

Sometimes during damp days, I still notice the odor. Typically, I wash the mattress pad as well and this is resolved. Otherwise, no sign of odor.

Sometimes I wake in the night feeling warm. Turning on the air conditioning usually resolves this problem. Caveat: I experienced the same problem with our previous box spring mattress. Husband does NOT have this problem. So possibly it is not the mattress, but my body system.

Making the bed, this mattress is heavy - thank goodness we have the ERGO adjustable base to help move the mattress and get sheets tucked under.

Pros:
Best sleep we have had in YEARS! We typically sleep thru the night (sans the hot flash issue), wake up refreshed, no back aches or hip pains.

We do not feel motion when the other one moves. Note that with this mattress we seldom move as we did with our old box spring mattress.

So comfy, we fall asleep quickly. So comfy, we like to stay in bed. This mattress is the absolute most comfortable mattress we have every owned. It did not take us more than one night to adjust to sleeping on this medium/firm mattress.

We tried an air adjustable mattress and it is no comparison for the comfort of the memory foam. The memory foam really is luxurious, no pressure pushing back. It is simply wonderful!

Old box spring mattress seemed to cause lots of allergic issues, stuffy nose (dust mites?). Very seldom have trouble breathing in the night.

ERGO adjustable base is well worth the extra cost. It is fabulous for reading in bed, watching tv, and typically a slight tilt will help reduce snoring.

Tempur-Pedic King DeluxeBed

Bought in IL from Wickes furniture 2006.

Developed sagging on both sides.

Wickes out of business, contacted Tempur-pedic followed instrucions.

Filled out short claim form, took pictures of the 1 inch sag on each side. Tempur-pedic sent new mattress, foundation, & new frame.

No cost to us for anything. The new foundation is now solid compared to the first. This is supposed to correct any sagging.

To say that Tempur-pedic does not honor warranty for sagging is incorrect. This replacement took place last 2 weeks of December 2010.
