IKEA Sultan Holmsta Mattress Review

I have a Sultan Holmsta mattress in Queen size. It’s extremely comfortable for myself and my husband. It’s not too soft, which would hurt my back, but it’s not rock hard. The firmness is perfect and the pillow top ensures that it’s still comfortable while being firm.

I do wish sometimes that the pillow top was on both sides so I could flip the mattress occasionally for even wear. The major problem I’ve experienced is that one springs has started to poke through the bottom. A minor issue is one the handles tore off the first time we moved it, but it doesn’t affect the mattress itself.

We’ve had this IKEA mattress for 3 years and so far, it’s holding up pretty well. A little bit of sagging where we sleep, but not a significant amount. I think we paid around $200 for it and it’s been a really good value for the price. I’ve had mattresses in the past where the stitching starts coming off straight away and I’m glad that the IKEA mattress has held up better than those ones.

In my opinion, the IKEA mattresses are 4-star, a very good value for the price paid. If we have to buy another adult mattress in the future, IKEA will definitely be the very first place we look to buy one. We don’t need memory foam or any of the other crazy options available.

Our furniture comes almost exclusively from IKEA and I really love the options on their beds to use the slats in place of a box spring mattress. That saved me a lot of money. For a kid’s mattress, though, I’ve found that IKEA doesn’t provide sufficient support. They tend to be just thin foam with no springs, so I have to say that I look elsewhere for my toddlers’ mattresses like Target or Walmart.

Sultan Holmsta is a great mattress at an affordable price!

by John S.

We purchased the Sultan Holmsta in King Size last August to replace a Select Comfort air mattress that we'd had for almost ten years. To be frank, we purchased the mattress as a stop gap until we could find a "good" mattress as we were having problems with the air mattress.

After sleeping on the IKEA mattress for the past 10 months, we couldn't be happier! The mattress is firm enough for me (back problems) but still comfortable for my wife. It's very comfortable for both of us (and our dog!) and we seem to fall asleep easier and wake up more refreshed - less tossing and turning during the night. We did purchase a mattress protector and it washes up well and keeps the mattress clean.

Prior to owning the air mattress, we'd had water beds and other conventional matresses - the Sultan mattress is as good as or better than any we've had. We like it so much that we bought a queen size Sultan for our guest room. I'd give the Sultan Holmstra mattress 5 Stars. It's a great mattress at an affordable price!

Ikea Holmsta Queen Mattress

I too have this mattress and out of the many I've tried at Ikea and others, Sealy, Sterns & Foster,Beauty Rest and Serta this has been the most comfortable. Mine you I did purchase a 2 inch latex topper. I wanted a little more cushion, now it's perfect. I've had mattress for 3 years now and no problem so far. I weight 128 lbs. at 5'ft. 6ins. I believe it's been discontinued which stinks because I wanted to get one for my son. I gave away a Stern's and Foster I had paid 1,300. because with in a year it started sinking in the center. They did not honor their guarantee. GO FIGURE!!! You do not always get what you think you pay for.
